  2.     HOST ENTRY CONFIGURATION
  3.  
  4.     NETWORK
  5.  
  6.     Enlighten gives you the tools to set-up and modify your network
  7.     configurations. You also use this menu to establish and update any
  8.     DNS and/or NIS servers. The actual options are:
  9.  
  10.     + Host Entries
  11.     + Host Configuration
  12.     + Host Naming Services
  13.     + Remote File Distribution
  14.     + Naming Service Overrides
  15.     + DNS
  16.     + NIS and NIS+
  17.  
  18.     Host Entries
  19.  
  20.     Each system has a hosts database containing a list of known hosts
  21.     and their TCP/IP address on the network. You can use this module to
  22.     concurrently manage the host database of multiple machines.
  23.  
  24.     The list box will show all know host entries in the current pool,
  25.     their domains, TCP/IP addresses, host entry names, and any aliases.
  26.     From here, you can:
  27.  
  28.     + Add - Add new host entries
  29.     + Modify - Modify existing host entries
  30.     + Delete - Delete existing hosts entries
  31.     + Hosts - File Import Import a file defining the host entries for any
  32.       active host name servers
  33.     + NIS - Push the NIS maps on active NIS servers
  34.  
  35.     The rest of this section details how to use this window's buttons.

  37.     Add
  38.  
  39.     Click on the Add button to bring up the Add Host Entry window.
  40.  
  41.     Modify
  42.  
  43.     If you wish to change the address of a host or modify the alias list
  44.     of a host, highlight the desired entries and click on the Modify
  45.     button. A window similar to the Add Host Entry window will appear,
  46.     except you can not modify the Hostname field.

  48.     There are also two button differences in the Modify window:
  49.  
  50.     + you can use the Modify button (rather than the Add button) after
  51.       you've made all your changes and
  52.  
  53.     + you can use the Next button to modify additional host entry
  54.       configurations if you've selected more than one to modify from the
  55.       Host Entry Configuration list.

  57.     For a description of the rest of the buttons and fields in this
  58.     window, see "Add" on page 9-2.

  60.     Delete
  61.  
  62.     Click on the Delete button to delete the highlighted host entries.
  63.     Enlighten will prompt you to confirm your action.

  65.     Hosts File Import
  66.  
  67.     If you want to load the host entries from an existing file into the
  68.     current host naming services server(s) (or this host database from a
  69.     local file you've already created), click on this button to import
  70.     that file. The Import Local Host Entries File window will appear, as
  71.     shown below.

  73.     NIS
  74.  
  75.     Click on this button to push/remake the NIS maps on any active NIS
  76.     servers. This updates the NIS servers and hosts on your network with
  77.     any Host Entry changes you've made to the Configuration list. If
  78.     there are no NIS servers to update for your choice(s), Enlighten
  79.     will display a dialog box telling you so.
